Why can't we be more like South Africa?

They sure have come a long way since Apartheid! I remember holding a "Divest Now!" card at a rally in the '80s. I wonder if South Africans are going to one day be holding the same cards in protests at their universities, only aimed at the US?
Hell... with South Africa approving gay marriages and GERMANY suing Bush Administration officials for crimes against prisoners of war... up is down and black IS white, brothers.
When the Nazi Party's home town is coming down on US for the torture and murder of prisoners of war... it's time to really think about how far we've flopped, gang.
What's going on? The world used to make so much sense. I just heard we're 54th on the list of countries with a free press. I grew up thinking America led the world, but we're falling more and more behind.
